The best way to avoid foot problem is to prevent them in the first place. Avoidance is of extreme importance.

  • Check your feet daily for cuts, blisters, red spots, swelling. Inform your podiatrist immediately if you notice any changes or sustain any injury.
  • Wash your feet with luke warm water and use a mild soap, avoid hot water.
  • Do not use hash material on your feet, avoid stones brushes or scrubs.
  • Have your podiatrist check your feet at routine visits.
  • Don’t try to remove calluses, corns, warts or cuticles by yourself. See your podiatrist for assistance in these cases.
  • Wear thick, soft socks. Avoid mended socks or those with seams, which could rub and cause blisters or other skin injuries.
  • Always wear shoes when walking. Never go barefoot.
  • Do not cross your legs.
  • Before putting your shoes on, feel inside for pebbles or other small hard objects.
  • Do not wear heels higher than 2 inches, or shoes with pointed toes.
  • Remember, comfort before beauty.
